Thread starter Ace Alchemist Start date May 6, Status Not open for further replies. Ace Alchemist. Why is Blaziken classified as Uber? I could understand if the item Blazikenite was classified as Uber but not Blaziken itself.

It makes no sense what so ever to classify Blaziken as an uber. LightningAce11 posted Because Smogon is stupid. Also, can someone pass the glue, I'm hungry! Could you do anything with that Kyogre in Ubers? Does that mean that from now on, all Kyogre sans attacking moves should be tiered as NU?

That restriction is ludicrous, but it is a natural extension. But any pokemon with Swords Dance AND Speed Boost would be broken unless it had horrible attack or such terrible defense that it gets taken out before it can swords dance. It also needs good STABs and high-powered moves. That combined with the fact that it needs a pretty good attack or special attack stat makes it so that Speed Boost isn't really broken. User Info: DarkDragon MagikarpRules posted Wow, even non-competitive players like me can understand it.

TC needs to catch up a lot if he doesn't know what Speed Boost is. User Info: NecroStreak Oh boy User Info: Arcanine Really now? Ensuring that a pokemon with no uber stats or movepool attacks first every time, makes it uber now?

Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need. From: Arcanine Really now? User Info: Pooo AuroraSonicBeam posted One thing that blaziken surely retained from the previous generation was the depth to its game and the variety of sets it could pull-off successfully.

Once gen 5 came by , it almost seemed like blaziken was about to drop furthur due to the immense weater wars , power creep , keldeo , genesect , terrakion etc. Until , game freak gifted blaziken with the boon of speed boost.

The addition of speed boost as blaziken's new hidden ability made its play style completely linear. It only had one set that was worth using which was a sword dance set , but this set alone was so incredibly pressurising and limitting to the point where this alone took got it banned to Ubers.

This was the first time in pokemon history where a starter pokemon got banned to the uber tier for being to powerfull. And fortunately , blaziken did'nt need any extra coverage besides its STABs to be productive in the tier as a good wall breaker. Gen 5 was the start of blaziken's sheer dominance in the competetive scene. Gen 6 came along , and introduced a lot of changes into the competetive scene , with mega evolution being the most notable of the bunch.

But still , was deemed too powerfull for the OU tier , due to its ease of getting set up , and the fact that its incredibly tough to wall due to adequete coverage and difficult to revenge kill it after the set up. And ORAS even gave it a mega evolution which had attack , special attack , speed and 80 defenses , and fortunately retained the speed boost ability.

It was placed in the Uber tier for the same reasons as its regular form , and funnily enough it was not used even nearly as much as its regular form , as the stat buff didnt matter as much , and life-orb blaziken 's damage out put was slightly higher then its mega form , and the mega evolution slot was much more precious for other megas like salamence , gengar or gardevoir.

Gen 6 went that same way for blaziken as the previous generation as it spent most of its time in UBERs. Gen 7 came along and introduced a brand new mechanic called Z crystals. This did'nt really peak the intrest of blaziken users as blaziken's life orb was pretty crucial in improving its insanely good damage out put and removal of that is offensively hinders it.

And its mega was in the same awkward spot in Ubers as it was outcalssed by its own regular counter part. However there are people who say that blaziken could have been OU in gen 7 due to the prominence of rain , and the introduction of toxepex , who stone walls blaziken without earthquake.

Overall , gen 7 didnt bring much to the table besides a third consecutive placement in Ubers. For those of you who are'nt aware , blaziken was introduced to the gen 8 competetive scene once the crown tundra DLC was out , and it was surprisingly fit into the OU tier rather well. People at first thought that blaziken was nerfed , but that was certainly not the fact , infact , it was gifted with new moves like close combat , aura sphere and U-turn and all these moves where ones that blaziken was desperate for in the previous metagames.

But as the meta started stabilising , blaziken's usage started detoriating and so was its viability in the tier. And in the tier shifts of nov 2nd , blaziken was placed in the UU tier. This decision had gotten outrageous response from all sorts of competetive players , even those who trash talked blaziken for its lack of viability seemed to be against this decision.

And those of you who are wondering what the reasons are for this infamous downfall , you have clicked the right blog.
