The official Leap Frog website offered 34 books compatible with the tag system as of These books include stories from popular children's characters and subject matter, such as the classics "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Little Engine That Could. Two varieties of carrying cases are available with the Tag system. Both are plastic, one is clear and see-through while the other is pink. You can also buy headphones. Gift packs are sold through the Leap Frog website and are centered around the theme of their stories. Choose from the "Up! The Leap Frog Tag reading system helps facilitate children's understanding of English, reading comprehension and speech.

Through listening to words and letters being sounded out correctly they can visually attach the letter to its proper place in the alphabet, in the word and eventually in the sentence. Listening is an important skill for building overall literacy—which is why LeapFrog created LeapReader with a built-in audio player.

LeapReader offers a library of nearly audio books, music albums, and trivia challenges that you can download from the LeapFrog App Center. Your child can listen to popular stories like the Magic Tree House series and classic books like Clifford the Big Red Dog, sing along to learning songs and more. LeapReader even has a headphone jack to make learning on-the-go convenient. Just plug LeapReader into your computer with the included USB charger, and let the device charge on its own.

A fully charged battery will last up to four hours. Holds up to 40 books. The Treasure of Turtle Island! The students did a great job being quiet enough that everyone could hear the story and they all were really interested and enjoyed listening along to the story. When the story ended, we switched to sing along mode and played a few of the LeapFrog Learning Songs which the kids were bopping along to and then busted into song when The ABC Song came on!

After spending some time together as a class, we then broke the students down into their table groups and let each group take a look at a different book while one table had a turn with the Talking Words Factory Flash Cards. The flash cards are pretty neat as you can use them to play a lot of different learning games with or without the LeapReader pen. Then, add in the pen to encourage sounding out words. This is a great way to teach rhyming as you swap out just the beginning sound or blends and other reading concepts.

The class really loved reading along with the stories using the LeapReader as well as exploring what other activities they could find on the pages. I was really pleased to see how well the students did at sharing and reading together in their small groups as they tried to read and sound out the stories. Have you been wondering which system to pick, leapreader vs tag and how they compare?

We wondered too! We have been using LeapFrog Tag reading system in our home for a couple of years now. We all really loved the system.
